Open Letter of Request for Assistance From Protesting Wrestlers To BJP Women MPs

The nation's best wrestlers, along with 41 other women leaders of the BJP, signed a letter to Union ministers Smriti Irani and Nirmala Sitharaman asking for assistance and justice as they continue their conflict with wrestling federation head Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
“The head of the Wrestlers' Federation of India has sexually attacked us, the female wrestlers in India. He repeatedly abused wrestlers while serving as the federation's president for a lengthy period of time. When wrestlers attempted to speak out, his dominance destroyed their futures and rendered justice irrelevant. We have no choice but to fight for the respect of the female wrestlers as the water is now over the nose,” the letter said, according to a report by India Today.
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat said at a news conference that wrestlers had sent an open letter to the female MPs of the governing party to show their support as none of them have voiced complaints during 22 days of demonstrations.
At the news conference at Jantar Mantar, Vinesh remarked, “When you talk about the safety of women in this country and helping them fight for their dignity, then we are also your daughters, and we are also fighting for the same dignity.”
The wrestlers begged the female MPs to continue their support and said in their letter that they had a lot of hope from them. “As female members of the governing party's parliamentary caucus, we very much look forward to your assistance. Please speak out for us and preserve our dignity. The message continued, “We also hope you can spare some time to reach Jantar Mantar to guide us,” according to the India Today article.
The wrestlers have requested the resignation of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) head Brij Bhushan after accusing him of sexually exploiting multiple female wrestlers over a period of time.
The world championship medalist Vinesh Phogat had already suggested that if their requests were not granted, the protest would grow in size.
