Aren't We Hindus?, asks Ashok Gehlot of the BJP

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, accused the BJP of associating people's voting preferences with Hinduism and questioned if those who do not support the party are not Hindus.

“You (the BJP) create one controversy after another to incite people in the name of religion or caste. We are all Hindus. Were we not Hindus? Where does it say that a BJP voter must be a Hindu? Gehlot enquired.

Gehlot made a call to the young during his remarks at the Haldighati young Festival's opening ceremony on Thursday in Nathdwara, Rajsamand district, asking them to choose between concerns of development and ones that just stir up controversy.

Some people vote for the BJP in democracies; others do not. Some elect Congress, while others do not,” he remarked.

“From whence did they acquire the idea that those who don't vote (for the BJP) aren't Hindus? “It is not in the national interest,” Gehlot said.

Gehlot added, “I would like to tell the youth, you decide whether you want development, whether you want a vision or (not),” alleging that a BJP government would halt the initiatives carried out by the existing administration in Rajasthan.

The kid was also advised by him that “knowledge is power”. According to him, Rajasthan now leads the nation in the IT industry.
